I can hear Big Ben from my room, which is pretty rad!

This is a shortcut I take sometimes. It’s a tunnel under railroad tracks and it’s an “authorized graffiti area”. There are always people working on tags and every time I walk through, the artwork is completely different.

The Internet in London

The Internet is not really happening for me in London. In a big way. I just wrote a really heartfelt post about how much I’ve learned since I’ve been here. But you know, I lost internet connection as it was publishing and now it’s gone forever. Should have wrote it in Word first, I know.

Anyway, not having the Internet is probably a good thing because I have to go out and walk around to amuse myself. Like, right now, I’m in the Southbank Centre trying to use their miserable wifi, but nonetheless enjoying a lovely view of the Thames. Boom. I could be in my room watching six episodes of Mad Men in a row. (miss you, Netflix)

Sorry about infrequent non-existent posts. If the internet cooperates, I will post a some photos to illustrate my first month here.xx

Preparing

It’s weird to think that this time tomorrow, I’ll be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, hopefully asleep in the hopefully luxurious premium economy section of a 777. When I wake up, or several movies later, I will be in London.

And I will stay there, for the most part, for five months. While in London, I will be studying English at King’s College and hopefully learning a lot more about myself and the rest of the world… in addition to the book learnin’. I’m not sure if I’ll ever have an opportunity like this again, so I want to make the most of it.

Right now, I can’t even fathom what “making the most of it” will entail. All I can focus on is cramming five months’ worth of stuff into two suitcases (two words: space bags) and making it onto the plane. I think I will be ok from there. This is not totally true, I face several obstacles, alone, in a foreign city. It’s kind of hard to breathe when I think about it. But eventually I will be totally better than ok.
